Trans Antarctic Challenge 250

Art.No.: 7-250-0

We thank Rune Gjeldnes for this description of the Extreme Antarctic Challenge 250.

“I needed to get a pulk that was stable enough and could take the
impacts from kiting in never ending sastrugis.
Several expeditions had problems with their sleds in these conditions even at shorter distances.
ACAPULKA AS made our sled when we crossed the Arctic Ocean in 2000.
Together with them I checked the possibilities to develop a sled that could face the challenges with an Antarctic crossing. It had worked excellent in the north, so why not develop it further for use in Antarctica. Weight was crucial for me, so we needed to get this pulk lighter than on the Arctic Ocean crossing. I limited the weight to 12 kg. The bottom section was of most importance as it gets all the impact. Polar Storm (as I called my pulk) did the job better than expected. The stability when kiting was outstanding. It tipped over only 12 times on the whole expedition. I also really enjoyed the enormous load capacity and emergency bivouac properties. This pulk is a long distance pulk with extreme stability and strength.
I do thank ACAPULKA for this product and their phenomenal cooperation.”

“Everything went well, except the PE - runners that fell off. That was my own fault, as
I did not fit them properly prior the start.”
